About the Strike

Ontario’s Community and Social Services Are Worth Fighting For

Community, health, and social service workers across Ontario are standing together to fight for fair funding, fair wages, and stronger support for the people and communities we serve every day.

For years, chronic underfunding and staffing shortages have placed increasing pressure on essential public services across the province.

Workers in developmental services, child welfare, mental health, healthcare, community agencies, and youth justice continue to support vulnerable communities while facing growing workloads, burnout, and wage suppression.

This fight is about protecting critical public services and ensuring communities continue receiving the support they deserve.

What’s at stake

Our workplaces have been chronically underfunded and our wages have been suppressed by the Ford government.

The government has repeatedly failed to provide meaningful funding improvements, leaving us to navigate the increasing challenges our communities face without adequate support.

After Bill 124, the Ford government’s wage suppression bill, got overturned, our counterparts in numerous other public sectors who were affected received retroactive wage increases. We did not.

We are paid significantly less than our counterparts, making it hard to attract new workers or keep experienced ones. This staffing crisis limits our ability to provide high quality, effective and safe public services.

We are campaigning for better funding NOW. Without this, we face the risk of program closures, labour disruptions, and reduction in the quality of services that our communities heavily rely on.

The time to act is NOW.

Workers, our services, and the people of Ontario are worth fighting for!

STAND WITH US

Together, we can protect the services and communities that Ontario workers support every day.
